What we do
Basically for the past few years we have been growing a steadily increasing range of chillis. From the classic varieties such as the Cayenne and Jalapeno. To the downright strange, things like the Peter Penis and the Friars Hat! (pictures to follow shortly…)
We grow all of our Chillis from seed each year at Derrys Nurseries in Cossington. We keep it nice and simple on the growing side of things, using only; compost, water and natural light (and of course the occasional plant pot and chilli seed).
Once the little beauties are well established and starting to flower we take them on holidays every few weekends to farmers markets across the land. Their main job at the markets is to sit there and look pretty, something the rest of us aren’t too good at!
After extensive talks between ourselves and the plants we came to our longstanding agreement. The plants get a good healthy life and some great family holidays to local markets. And we get a full and fiery harvest of the best chillis around to put into our sauces, preserves and other tasty treats. Not a bad deal for any of us really!
We’re always playing around with new recipes and ideas, to see what delights we can come up with next. But fear not, we still spend a good portion of our kitchen time making new batches of our most popular sauces, to try and keep up with the demand from all you hungry people out there.
